THREE minute thesis (3MT®) grand finaL 

1 SLIDE. 3 MINUTES. BIG IDEAS.

Imagine a typical PhD thesis – around 80,000 words long and taking more than nine hours to read.

Adelaide University's PhD candidates are rising to the challenge of presenting their research in just three minutes, using only one slide, to showcase ideas with the potential for a lifetime of impact. Candidates will compete for the chance to win $3,000 and represent Adelaide University in the 2026 Asia-Pacific Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition.

The 3MT® competition is a global celebration of research, with more than 900 universities across 85 countries participating worldwide.

Join us in person or online to hear from our outstanding finalists, explore innovative research tackling real-world challenges, and vote for the People's Choice winner. Finalists from across the University will be announced ahead of the Grand Final .

The 2026 Adelaide University Three Minute Thesis Grand Final is presented by The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre and the Adelaide University Graduate Research School, with support from Adelaide University Colleges.
